East Bay Manufacturing Group Elects Officers

Karen Burns elected to lead regional manufacturing group Board of Directors

The East Bay Manufacturing Group (EBMG), an organization that offers peer-to-peer events for C-level executives from East Bay manufacturing companies and affiliated organizations, is proud to announce the election of its inaugural officers.  In an election held by the active membership on March 6, 2013, Karen Burns, an assurance partner at Sensiba San Filippo LLP,  was elected President. Stephen Tessler, executive vice president of California Bank of Commerce, was elected as Vice President and Treasurer.  Steven Cramer, a partner in the business practice at Wendel, Rosen, Black & Dean, was elected Secretary.

Karen’s passion for her client service work and the delivery of innovative, “forward thinking” strategies in serving clients in the manufacturing sector, led her to co-found the EBMG last year. Through her work with the manufacturing community, she recognized the need for an exclusive forum for East Bay manufacturing business owners/C-level executives to network and collaborate on “best practices” with their peers.

“She started the East Bay Manufacturing Group from scratch, and despite obstacles, stayed with it and even marshaled her personal assets to make it successful,” said Janice Berthold, Senior Vice President of Heffernan Insurance Brokers, an EBMG member company.

“EBMG has been a tremendous help to my start-up business. They host informative and relevant programs tailored to issues facing manufacturers, large and small,” said Molly Zahner, founder and CEO of Slow Girl Foods and EBMG participating company. “Their high-caliber speakers and professional attendees bring a wealth of knowledge and experience, making the events a forum for idea sharing and turning those ideas into practices. It is also a great opportunity to network with fellow East Bay manufacturers.”
